What is crystal?

Crystals are a natural element found on Earth. A true crystal has organized unit cells that form a unique crystal structure called a crystal system. Healing crystals come in six crystal structures (see next page). There are also types of crystals called “amorphous” crystals, such as amber, obsidian, opal and tektites. Although they are not true crystals because they do not have an intrinsic crystalline structure, each has its own unique properties.

The color of a crystal does play a role in how people like it, and also plays a role in the crystal’s energy and healing effects. We will explore the power of crystals in more detail later in this book, but for now let’s learn the basics about crystals and their colors. The color of a crystal comes from three facts:

1. How crystal absorbs light
2. Unique minerals/chemicals contained in crystals
3. Impurities contained in crystal

Minerals and impurities affect the wavelengths of light absorbed by the crystal, thus determining the color the crystal appears. For example, if a crystal absorbs all wavelengths, it appears black; if it absorbs no wavelengths, it appears transparent. Different impurities and minerals/chemicals affect light differently.

Healing crystals come in six crystal structures:

Hexagonal crystal

It has an intrinsic structure similar to a three-dimensional hexagon. Hexagonal crystals aid in manifestation.

Isometric crystal

With a cubic structure, it can improve the situation and enhance energy.

Monoclinic crystal

It has a three-dimensional parallelogram structure and is a crystal that provides protection.

Orthorhombic crystal

It has a diamond-shaped crystalline form and can purify, clean and remove obstacles.

It has a rectangular internal structure. This type of crystal attracts attention, enhances attraction, and helps you attract things.

Tetragonal crystal

The inner structure with three oblique axes can block unnecessary energy or help you retain the energy you want to maintain.
